Pope John Paul II Celebrating the Divine Liturgy

The Catholic Church is not just composed of the Latin Rite, there are several Eastern Rites. Here our previous Holy Father Pope St. John Paul II is celebrating the Divine Liturgy in Ukrainian (His mother was Eastern Catholic). This commemorates the 400th anniversary of the Union of Brest.

The Union of Brest is when the Ruthenian Metropolia of Kiev-Halych and all of Rus came into communion with the See of Peter. (Made up of many Ukrainians and Belorussians)

This is a beautiful example of the Communion of the Church working with both lungs as our previous Holy Father has made reference to. Hopefully you will enjoy the Liturgy, and God willing come visit one of the many Eastern Catholic churches that are in communion with the See of Rome.
